For the past 30 years, diPietro Todd has been a constant in Union Square’s ever-changing landscape, landing itself as an iconic premier salon in San Francisco. While we have opened new locations, we have never relocated, making the very walls of 177 Post Street almost part of the ethos and culture of the company.

So many locks of hair have fallen on those hardwood floors, so many apprentices have had creative breakthroughs during Monday education days, and so many clients have rode up to the 2nd floor in need of a major pick-me-up only to descent with fresh, beautiful hair thoughtfully curated just for them by their stylist and colorist.

Countless friendships (and even some romances) have been sparked in the break room, and it’s safe to say that if those walls could talk, they would have themselves a best-selling book. So it might have been a shock to some to find out that the salon was moving to Jackson Square.

Owners Kim and Andrew Todd know that change and innovation is key to the momentum of any successful business. Which is why they decided that a change of scenery was just what the clients and staff of their flagship salon needed.

Whether it’s a new color line, a change in company policy or in this case, a complete relocation, Kim and Andrew Todd are not afraid to shake things up to breathe new, exciting energy into their company.

The new location, 520 Washington St, in the heart of Jackson Square has some pretty big shoes to fill when it comes to making history happen there. Situated directly across the street from the Transamerica Pyramid, this gem of real estate dates back to the Gold Rush. They call it the Eclipse Champagne Building because the first attempt at making sparkling wine on the west coast happened inside. It partially survived the earthquake and fire in 1906 (don’t worry it’s been retrofitted since then) and it has rumored to be the location for some of the area’s most seedy speakeasies and gambling dens of its era.

Once the decorators and antique dealers moved in the neighborhood in the 1950’s, it took on more tame tenants—so we are very excited to shake things up and give those walls something to whisper about again!

Already open for business, the salon looks stunning and we can’t wait for you to see it. If you didn’t make it to the grand opening party then here are some pics for you to enjoy, and we look forward to seeing you in one of our chairs!

Come visit us or request an appointment online.
