For us there’s nothing quite like styling hair, having fun and supporting a great cause. Thanks to our partner Rene Furterer, we also donated VIP gift bags and a silent auction package all to raise awareness and visibility to the LGBT community.

If you live in the Bay Area, chances are you’ve seen Michael Schwab’s iconic graphic art. His posters for Mt. Tam, Amtrak and NPR just to name a few are instantly recognizable, so we were thrilled to host his art at our Mill Valley location. So when GLAAD asked us to donate gift bags and celebrity hair touch ups backstage at their annual Media Awards, it was a no brainer. One of our most heartfelt collaborations was with buildOn for the dPt Flea Market. Hosted by our Mill Valley salon, food, clothing and jewelry vendors came together to support buildOn, a non-profit that mobilizes America’s youth to educate and empower lesser fortunate kids and teens all over the world. Our Pacific Heights salon is featuring diPietro Todd’s very own Director of Graphic Design, Brittany McCall. This multimedia collaboration combines Brittany’s signature style with diPietro Todd’s creative vision.
The students of diPietro Todd’s Development program present their latest inspirations in cut, color + styling. This year’s Soirée was is titled “Overture” inspired by Pulp Fashion: The Art of Isabelle de Borchgrave
diPietro Todd teamed up with with L’Oréal Professionnel to present creative applications of INOA, L’Oréal Professionnel’s premium immonia-free hair color. While the shows main focus was color experimentation, the dPT creative team also presented the latest in cutting and styling. Each segment had it’s own personality that came together through diPietro Todd’s strong collective of ideas. As Akemi our Creative Director said during the presentation: “We’re really all just a bunch of Hair Geeks!”
We seriously had to pinch ourselves when Kirsten Magrini (Senior Business Manager for L’Oreal Professional- West) asked us if we would like to send two hairdressers to participate in Fashion Week for Gwen Stephanie’s L.A.M.B clothing line. Gwen the “No Doubt” rock star is the new face for INOA, L’Oreal’s new premier color product and the look for her spring show was fresh, young and sophisticated. We sent Akemi, our Creative Director, along with her Assistant Creative Director, Moises Villa, and they were part of a team of hairdressers responsible for creating the loose, sexy, sweet upstyles with braids and chignons. All in all, it was a great experience we’ll never forget.
Our development students put on a great show this year at their annual soirée titled: Curtain Call. The students produced the entire show from concept to costumes to choreography. This years show was inspired by the late Alexander Mcqueen, and was a juxtaposition of light (hard) and dark (soft). Images by Kristin Smith and Cynthia Wood.

diPietro Todd, in collaboration with Shu Uemura, Kerastase and INOA, showcased their latest inspirations in shape, color, styling, and technique. Collective V2 pulled inspirations from vintage glamour, light and dark, vibrant tribal prints, and unique street wear. The show was able to raise over $2,500 to benefit the Altruist Project, a group of hairdressers that improve the lives of those in need by doing what they do best.
Here is a glimpse of diPietro Todd’s Fall 2009 collection. We took inspiration from vintage glamour and paired it with contemporary textures and finishes by shifting balances and mixing matte, pleated textures and smooth high-gloss shapes.

diPietro Todd Salon is a proud sponsor of Macy’s Passport for the 7th year. Macy’s Passport is the biggest fundraising event for HIV/AIDS research and awareness. Last year’s celebrity guests included Priscilla Presley, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, and Jennifer Lopez. The diPietro Todd staff continues to act on their commitment to the cause by donating their time and expertise in styling all the models’ hair for both the San Francisco and Los Angeles events.
Collective is our largest and most exciting event of the year, bringing together the creative community to showcase our latest collections. Featuring representation from our salons’ Creative Team, our professional and in-house Academies, and hosted in part by L’Oreal Professionnel, Collective features a sexy demonstration, presentation, and business industry trend lectures, followed by a fashion show and cocktail party. Part of the event proceeds benefit The Hunters Point Family, a San Francisco grass-roots, community-based, youth development agency.
