East began cutting hair in high school when he got into the music scene and couldn’t find anyone adept at cutting the styles he wanted. He figured if he wanted it done right, he might as well do it himself.
Lucky for East, his brother-in-law was a hair dresser and started formally training him at 18. East went on to train at Vidal Sassoon, and then took an apprenticeship at diPietro Todd where he has been for six years.
He rides an Italian motorcycle, wears Chelsea boots, bespoke denim, and spends his free time going to local rock shows and wrenching on his ’67 Chevy El Camino. When it comes to cutting hair, he is versatile. “I understand my clients have a range of aesthetic, and I aim to make each client the best version of themselves.” says East. With over a decade in the industry, East has found his stride working in the San Francisco and Palo Alto salons as well as teaching in diPietro Todd’s apprenticeship program. A good ol’ Missouri boy living the California dream.
