“City Swept” by Nicole Igou

The rush of air as a train passes in early morning. The entrepreneurial clicking of countless laptops at sidewalk cafes. A street musician’s poignant guitar riffs. These are the sights and sounds of the Bay Area, a place ripe for creatives, and the site that inspired Nicole Igou’s debut show, “City Swept.” Heads up, diPietro Todd clients: the new colorist’s books are now open at our Palo Alto location.

“My inspiration was based on the hustle and bustle of city living,” says Nicole, a recent graduate of diPietro Todd Salon’s rigorous apprenticeship program. “Each person moving in a different direction, on their own mission, in their own style. Young women full of virtue and vices, ready to take on whatever adventure finds them.”

Nicole sent models down the runway with icy platinums, vibrant reds and soft, seamless ombres. The hues were edgy without being over the top, extreme without being unflattering. It was to the models’ coloring and hair texture what city living is to an artist: a way to enhance what’s naturally there. For Nicole, what’s naturally there is a prodigious talent.
